The EEOC (or IDHR) requested a bunch of documentation from our company that will take a lot of administrative time to pull together. Do we have to provide it?

It is worth reviewing any document requests from an investigative agency with care and making decisions about how to respond not just on what is most convenient for your business, but what is most helpful to your defense.  Unfortunately, putting together a thorough response to effectively refute a discrimination claim can be time consuming.   Refusing to comply with a document request from a government agency should be carefully considered.  It is often better to approach the agency and request a modification that makes the breadth and depth of the request less onerous.
