The Chicago sick leave ordinance requires employers to provide paid sick leave to all employees who work at least 80 hours within a 120-day period.  Employees begin accruing leave on their first day of employment and earn one hour of leave for every 40 hours worked, for up to 40 hours per 12-month period (unless the employer sets a higher limit).  At the end of a 12-month accrual period, employees must be allowed to carry over up to half of any unused sick time.
